Evening all,
I was given a never used skil 110v circular saw a few weeks ago,and i bought a 110v plug for it today but i now realise ive never fitted a 110v plug before,ive tried and it doesnt work (the saw that is) so i would to check ive wired it properly,could anyone tell me what goes where?

I presume you have got either brown ,blue and green and yellow or just blue and brown . Brown is always live and blue Neutral, The plug should be marked with either L orsometimes + or Ph as in Phase and the neutral is normally marked as N or-
If this does not work then maybe your saw is knackered or the lead could be faulty .

May or may not be relevent ...
Are the colours Black and White or Red and White? US Standards if so....
White is Neutral and Black is "Hot" (AKA Live) as is Red.
People often wire the Black to Neutral for obvious reasons and can end up with a live connection on a switched off device. I have taken out a complete Waitrose distribution warehouse where someone incorrectly wired the US mini-computer I was working on and had switched off (or so I thought!) 
They were not that impressed, being the run up to Xmas and all :grin:
