Hi guy's and gals. I need a new mower. My last one a mountfield has just given up on me ...after two years ...not bad considering it's used everyday. I just ordered the same one over the net ..( as I cannot find it locally and it seems that Mountfield no longer make it ) but it failed on me after ten mins and had to send it back ...so no more internet buying of mowers for me as I now have no mower for Monday :-(
Anyway to cut a long story short I need an 18" self propelled, min cut needs to be 20mm ( most are 25mm... but I have some customers insist on a shorter cut! ... Oh and not too heavy.
I'm looking at the Honda Izy Honda Izy 18 46SD
Alko AL-KO 4610HPD
and the Toro 20637 48cm Self Drive Mower

Many thanks for the help.
Martin

I would go for the Toro as I prefer Briggs and Stratton engines. I have found Honda engines not to be as good over the years. As you use your mower every day you might consider changing the air cleaner filter regularly and perhaps giving it an oil change half way through the season. http://www.abbeygardensales.co.uk/rotar ... 20637.aspx Good price for it here.

Ive literally just given away a Mountfield HP470 mower, it was a 2005 with a Briggs and Stratton, I would definitely have another if I had the need for a mower!! No problems at all with it!

Mountfield have a 2 year manufacturers warranty. (not for professional use ...if you admit to it) You don't say if yours was just under or just over 2 years old. Either way it might be worth phoning them?
The Hoda izy would normally be considered a profesional mower and I'm sure is the dearest of the 3, the others you list for home use but I've never owned any on your list myself.
