On starting up (windows xp version2 / service pack3). I now get a light blue screen stating-
Checking file system on C:
The type of the file system is NTFS.
One of your disc needs to be checked for consistency, you may cancel the disc check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue.

After its checked all comes out ok, but this still happens on every boot up, what can I do to stop this..........In plain steps please for a numpty! :?

Second problem is I have now installed the highly recommended Monzilla Thunderbird and transfered my address book over from Incredimail made MT. the default, but I get the message box in the bottom right corner come up stating "Failed to connect to server HTTP." when I try to get my emails.
They are still going to the Inc. Mail account. Hope this makes sense so someone can help with these issues, I have already looked for help on both sites, but any info is just flying over my numb head like the Red Arrows display team. :dunno:
Help Rick.

Have you set you account details in thunderbird.

Click tools>account settings>outgoing server and check the details.

To stop the system Check disk at every boot up, follow these instructions
When you come to type the bits into the cmd prompt, take note of any spaces in the text.
For example:
chkntfs /X C:
there is a space between 's' and '/' also a space between 'X' and 'C'.

***************************************

Regarding the email problem:
Open Thunderbird and go to Tools -> Accounts
Check that the entries are exactly as they should be for your IP.
Setting up Thunderbird

Post back if everything is not OK. And tell us who your IP is.

You should not lose any emails that are on your computer.
Who is your Internet Provider, because they will have a page of instructions on how to set up Thunderbird etc and what you put where in the boxes. You just need your username to set it up.

Open Thunderbird -> Tools -> Account Settings -> Account Actions (bottom left) -> in the drop down click Delete Account to remove the account.
Close T/bird.

reopen Thunderbird follow the instructions on the Virgin Link that Scruff posted and set up the account again using the details as per Virgin including the correct password.

All systems go or though it seems! Thanks for your help the Two of you between ya seem to sort this Ludite out, fingers crossed.
Changed that much over including the password I have had and used for ages, I sat transfixed when it all worked.
Do you think I can get rid of Incredimail safely now or should I leave to be safe side for a while?
Cheers Rick. :salute:

You can leave it where it is for now, because it is tied to a lot of registry keys, and I would not like you to try deleting them from the registry, as you could KILL your computer.

When you are happy with T/bird and settled, then you can remove Incredimail.

Firstly, Incredimail is not renown for wanting to export emails, in fact it can't, so any emails that you want to save, will have to be exported using one of the programs listed here or simply open each email (if there are not many), highlight the text and copy it and paste it into a word document and Save the document to a folder in My Documents.

Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller. Just scroll down the page in the link to the bottom right and click on the left 'Download' button for the FREE version.
Save it to your Download Folder or Desktop and, when downloaded, double click the icon to run it and install it.

Once installed, double click the shortcut that it puts on your Desktop.

When it has populated it's page with all the programs, just click on Incredimail and click on Uninstall on the top toolbar.

Click OK on the next window, then wait for it to set a restore point and remove Incredimail. A popup mauy show asking if you want to remove the program, just click Yes.

After removal, click Next and it will scan the registry and files for any leftovers.

Anything it finds in the registry it will list BUT ONLY tick the boxes of entries in BOLD TYPE -> click to delete selected and click Next.

If there are any files remaining from Incredimail it will show them, -> click Select All and click Delete.

That should have removed all traces of the program.

dave

ps. Which version of Windows are you using.

I'd be concerned why Windows suddenly decided to do a disk check. Make sure you have anything important copied to DVD or a removable hard drive.
