Hi, I've had this problem for a few months now and I can't figure out what's causing it.
I have a combi boiler installed and a mixer shower above the bath. The shower will drip quite badly whenever a tap is opened ANYWHERE else in the house. It never drips other than this.
Any ideas what the problem could be?
Many thanks, Dave

Could be the shower is being held off by the pressure or a vacuum.
Next time you have a shower, dry the rose jets with a towel, then try another tap.
When you say open another tap, is it the same hot and cold.

ok I'll try that when I get home thanks. It happens with both hot and cold (although I'd say it's more noticeable when turning a hot tap). Thanks, Dave

Post a pic of the shower fittings if it doesn't work.

Can only think there's a weak spring or component in the valve in that case.

When you take the shower hose off, does the thermostatic valve drip constantly?

Hi, If I remove the hose the thermostatic valve will drip approximately twice a minute. Are we getting somewhere?

It shouldn't drip at all, as Scruff says the drip is being held off by a vacuum and also the minimal amounts of pressure in the shower hose, which suddenly releases when there is a change in pressure to the system.
You could try removing the bar and cleaning, it is possible that there is debris stoping it from closing properly, it looks as though it's a fairly new shower. When you remove the shower bar there should be 2 rubber filter washers on the end of the tails, check to see if these are clogged up, if there is a lot of debris and the shower is new, it could indicate that the pipework was not flushed through before the shower was fitted. Thermostaic mixers don't like flux very much.

Does the combi attempt to fire up for a second or two when this happens?

Hi,
Well I removed the mixer bar and cleaned the inside of the pipework (there was a bit of brick dust in the hot pipe). I then removed the valve from the mixer bar and when the valve is completely shut off a small amount of air can still pass through when I blow through it. Is this normal?
I've found a new replacement on eBay for £85 (Triton Aire Bar Mixer Shower)
Does anyone know if you can replace just the valve or do I need a complete new shower?
Thanks guys I appreciate your help.
Dave

Just replace the valve is fine, pipe centres should be 150mm, undo one replace with another
