ok guys here is the problem, myself and the wif have just bought a 1930s house your typical semi dtached wit bay windows , now the guttering is leaking at about 3 of the joints not a great deal just basically dripping now budget isnt great and with the work in the house ect first i was hoping there maybe some sort of sealent i could posibly use that will last me through till next year

any help would be most appreciated

ps the guttering is the old cast iron stuff i think anyway

Easy.

Just cut the bolt off and buy new gutters bolts and nut, a small tub of Plumbers mait.

Ease the gutter up from the socket, clean and dry, apply a sausage of plumbers mait in the socket, and do the nut up.

Last for years.

will i be able to get these at the local b&Q or other diy stores

Plumbers or builders merchant would be best, although the sheds should have something on the shelf

same as scruff says but linseed putty also does the job ..

did a couple today
remember not to over tighten your bolt mate as the old cast gutters have a habit of cracking :wink
you usually hear a small creaking noise as it gets tight enough
remember to put a dab of putty or plumbers mate in the bolt hole to seal it up before you tighten it

Don't like putty as it dries out and goes hard, ok if nothing better is to hand.
