I have had to remove a section of artexed ceiling and some coving at either end.
The plan is for a plasterer to come in carlite the ceiling first, then skim over the top to get me a flat ceiling.
Can i just cut in some bits of coving and fit them prior to plastering? Should i remove it all as it won't look right then re-fit after?

Hi Lagi, There's no reason to remove the coving, but the problem you have is if its a deep artex, by the time its had 2/3 coats of skim you might lose most of the edge of the cove. if you leave the cove up, put the 2 bits in before it is skimmed, for best results take it down. No need to give the ceiling a coat of carlite bonding, all that will do is make the plasterer have to hang around while it sets. 2 coats of PVA or 1 coat of WBA the day before, then 2/3 coats of multi finish depending on the thickness of the artex.

Cheers, i have replaced the missing plaster today and agree the coving won't look right after its all levelled off so will be taking it off at a later date ready for plastering.
As for the carlite, thats what the plasterer wanted to do after seeing it, so its his choice on that one.
