It works for months after being frozen (bloody frost protect heater in shed didnt keep up) I actually brought it in the house for the extreme cold and had only just put it back out, but the heater still didnt keep up. It could only have been 'just' frozen, possibly only the hose.

I dont actually know anyone with a pressure washer who did anything with it this winter to protect from freezing. If thats what caused it, theres going to be a lot of scrape washers this spring.

As for the oil, it was a very slight mist, and was so little that it was only noticed as one drip on the ground, which made me take the case off and have a look. Couldnt see where the oil had leaked from, so wiped mist clean, and used for days, then looked, and no oil shown. No problems after this for months either.

It has to be noted that the unit is meant to be a sealed unserviceable unit, with no indicators for oil levels (just like any other electric pressure washer)

Got a petrol washer, and it has (obviously) a seperate engine which drives a seperate pump. The electric washers are all in one.

With the petrol machine you have to put oil in the pump, and theres a level. In what way is this pump different from an electric one, and why would you not get an oil level in electric ones? As VI sayes, the electric motor has a very small amount of oil in the pump, but the petrol machines pump took about 200ml to fill.

the petrol ones need to be kept drained in the winter, we've had dozens returned with frozen parts last winter. we have a lot of brendan units plus a couple of these mounted on a trailer & fed by an IBC

yes, the petrol one looks like its easy to drain for the winter.

Whats the actual difference on the pump side of things between the electric and petrol ones? I noticed the lowest spec of petrol machine is higher than the best electric ones, and all are rated commercial use.

the petrol & diesel (gasoil) ones have higher capacity pumps, the petrol ones usually 2000psi & the diesels 3000 psi (one of our bowsers is rated at 5000 psi) one of our new power washers is a water cooled diesel engined 3000 psi 27 l/min power washer, that'd soon knock your clingons off your starboard bow
