I moved into my 1960's house in December. Since taking the wallpaper of the hallway in December I have noticed this sort of damp plaster smell and it's driving me mad.

The walls had been previously skimmed over latham plaster at some point in the past, this is also an outside wall, where my garage is attached, which doesn't have a roof at the moment as we had to remove it due to it being asbesto and was in a bad state of repair, the outside walls are pebbledashed.

There is no visable damp/mould patches, the skirting boards are fine just this smell, only certain parts of the wall smell, in the main part of the wall.

I have the windows open constantly so I don't think it's lack of ventalation, also the woman who lived here previously didn't have working central heating for a good few years.

Any ideas????
