Has anybody found that they gain more custom if they use a freephone number (available from BT) on a flyer/advert ?

I am about to start a new advertising campaign, and my flyers are ready to print, but was thinking of adding a freephone number, in hope that it will get me more phonecalls.

Cheers, Ryan

Its a double edged sword, for some it works but for others its no good. I personally dont use one as the results i had werent that good. My take on it is the type of person who chooses a freephone number is worried about cost, so are they the best person to spend with you ? Also now a days lots of peope use mobiles and freephone numbers cost more to ring from them.

My advice is if you do use one put your local number or mobile number underneath it too.

What can work well is ghost numbers or area call numbers as they are known. This gives you a local area code number thats diverted to your main phone. The customer thinks you are in their village or area because of the dialling code. It can work well but some feel cheated when they see a sign written van with another number on it. I had to explain many times why i was using one for this reason to a few customers.

Now i only use a local number and only give my mobile to existing customers on my cards.

But are the calls making you money ? loads of calls that dont earn much doesnt mean as much as a few calls that make money.

Freephone is not free from mobiles. It can cost up to 40p/minute from a mobile.
