18mm boards into std 8"x2" joists
8x2 or 10x2 ???
Should I drill a pilot hole or whack em straight in?
Any need to counter sink or let the screw bury itself?

I'd use 8x2
No pilot drills
No countersinking, just let them bury in.
I could be completly wrong, as its not a pipe! _________________ www.hintonheating.com

What you use screws to fasten pipes
8x2 sounds good to me, in the attic I arsed about to much - pilotholes and countersinking. All this did was weaken the board so some of the screws pulled too deep.
That's why I asked about the 10's

| Quite often the screw will damage the edge of the chipboard if you don't pilot drill, middle of the board is fine though. |
