Never laid a brick in my life, but always take a methodical approach to DIY jobs and usually get the required result. I'd like to create some nice curved raised beds in my back garden and I'm thinking it might provide an opportunity to learn a new skill (brick laying).
Can anyone point me towards a good step-by-step guide?
Would curved, as I suspect, be more difficult than straight edges? If so, how much more difficult? Am I mad even to consider doing this myself (especially as a first project)?
How do I calculate how much mortar I'll need? And how much cement (I'm guessing a start by digging a trench and filling it with cement...?)
Would rendering the outside myself be fairly easy?
Any advice or help appreciated (gales of laughter, less so!)
Thanks in advance
