Hello all, I’ve been to give a quote for a rendering job a couple of days ago which includes to bay windows and I feel like I’m at a loss as to how to tackle it. I’m under the impression that it’s obviously not brick underneath the old render (which they want off) can anyone help me out as to how they would go about rendering it please? The last thing I want is to accidently hammer my chisel through it into the bedroom!
Do you think I’d have to reconstruct the shape with angle beads and expanding metal lath?

If the void behind is hollow then you will need to sheet it with 12mm ply tack on blizzard roofing felt, ex met, scratch and top coat. Make up the angles in stainless or upvc stop beads.
The timber behind may still be sound but make a p.c. sum within your quote for the additional work to be undertaken if it is perished. |

thanks for the reply
yeah i thought it was going to be something along the lines of that, they dont teach you this at college tho! now i think of it angle beads really wouldnt of worked, stop beads are a better idea if not the only idea
is this how the rest of you would tackle it? is there any other plan of attack?
and another question i'm wondering is how much would people charge for the job? they want both houses rendering front and sides on the top floor. once the horrible plastic cladding if off (which they are going to do) theres old render on the front of the two houses to be taken off before we can get started. we were thinking roughly around the 2500 mark? |
