I started to quite like that a couple of years ago, but been watching the current series and they seem to want to spend most of the time concentrating on the "characters" and what a jolly and wacky time everyone is having rather then the task in hand

The thing is that every job is more or less the same so the trades talk bit is worn out. The hooks these days are the banter and the 'stylists' design concepts. The original team with Bob and Bridget was best. I also liked the second team that did the quick makeovers but that got dropped.

This is a show that has gone on for too many series. I still like Nick Knowles though.

one thing which I have wondered about and you guys can probably answer ....

They usually do some pretty extensive plastering - whole walls, ceilings, etc and it does look good.
But then they paint or plaster it next day or sooner

I thought (from reading posts here) that plaster has to be left to dry for weeks or even months?
Are they doing anything that lets them decorate so quickly, or have they just left it and gone back weeks later for a "part 2" and it is not mentioned? (or was it just done next day and the job will look shite a week later!)

Nick Knowles seems to be well used on tv these days.

I think the programme was better when it was more challenging and things went wrong, like diy, it's too much sob story and patch and plaster some how now. It's not so educational now, more comedic value. I'm glad the Welsh woman designer has been replaced, she was irritating. Bridget was the best one. I like the electrician Billy, he's funny.

Hoovie they just skim and then paint with specially formulated paints like Dulux Supamat that can be used on "drying plaster" which is why they can get away with it - but I still dont believe they do it in the time specified.

That billy the 'electrician ' (i use the term very looseley) is a legend, not a week goes by without me seeing some sort of electrical cock up/against the regulations installation. Lastweek was buryong flex in the wall for the shelf lights and some very dubious loking capping .
I see now he has had to get help on almost every job due to the fact he has not a ferking clue what he is doing most of the time.

oh well keeps us real sparks in work i guess

Supermatt is great . I applied a mist coat of this 4 hours after I'd plastered the wall - I was a bit nervous of the way it dried but it looked good afer 12hours. I re-painted it today (several months after the mist coat ) - in RED

Apparently there was one of those episodes done on a converted church (I think) up our way a few years ago.

The (1st ) plumber I had, worked on the conversion.

He said there was so many tradesmen, you couldn't move and they did all the work. The crew filmed the first sequence where it showed the before pics, then the tradesmen moved in. They got stopped for an hour every now and then so the tv lot could be filmed doing bits but it was the behind the scenes blokes that did the work and it was all over a couple of weeks.

No idea if all shows are the same but I wouldn't be surprised.

It's the same the whole world over...

If you ring a sex line I bet you finish up talking to some decrepit old crone nothing like the pic you see in the adverts.

It makes me smile when they advertise phone lines on channel 5 late at night by age of the girls 20's, 30's, 40's or 50's. You have to see it, to hear how they describe each age group. Funny!
