|
|

I have a large shed (5.84 m x 3.38m), it has no windows just large double doors at each end. See the photos below. There is no electricity supply to the shed and because of the position of the house consumer unit it would be extremely difficult to run a cable to the shed. I would like to install a couple of fixed roof lights, the space between the rafters is 410mm.
Because I store some expensive garden machinery in the shed I do not want to put windows either in the sides or the doors.
Do you know where I could get plans to make my own roof lights?
Thanks
Peter C

Why don't you buy a 'Velux' type roof window, they come in all sizes and are a doddle to instal! _________________ By eck! |

I agree, weatherproof, well-made, and opening for ventilation while keeping the doors closed. _________________ I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

Thanks guys for that. Because I am a bit of a tight g*t I was hoping not to have to buy either a Velux or Premdoor window. Bang goes the beer money for a few weeks

By the time you've bought good-quality timber, machined the complex profiles, bought the glass, the opening/locking mechanism, and the flashings for the roof, you won't have saved a lot of cash, and have spent a fair amount of time. _________________ I started out with nothing, I still have most of it.

Buy Velux and with the money you save from not making your own, buy a silent generator!!! _________________ http://www.carhartt.com/ |

Thanks for the replies guys. I will probably go for a couple of Premdor skylights. Being a shed (or cart lodge as the estate agents call it!) it does not matter if the skylights are double glazed. Will definitely think about the silent generator carhartt.
