If it is connected to yiour network, it will stay connected.
if it is looking for a conenction, it will find a list of possible connections and tyou chose the relevent one.
Best advice I have to a IBM Thinkpad user is to download and install the IBM ThinkVantage Access Connections with which you can manage the connections very easily - it is the best application I have seen for this and is free to use (only works on IBM/Lenovo systems though)

Next door won't care (if they don't know  )
My Sister-in-law moved back in with her mum - who has no internet and never will. I checked her laptop setup and linked it in to someones unprotected wi-fi that was found 
Rock and Rolla  - just told her to make sure she didn't go overboard downloading off iPlayer and the like

I want to have nothing to do with either set of :cussing:neighbours. You can get prosecuted for that can't you?
The Home hub signal gets blocked by someone sitting at the main pc, according to HWMBO!

I've never used it, like I said, the ethernet cable reaches, it's easier!

if you connect to a very weak signal then that can come and go at random.
Sometimes, depending on the setup, the last connection becomes the 'preferred'connection - and the signal drops, the system looks for a connection, finds that one again and connects, then drops, etc etc.

First problem is that I've got Blu on my ignore list  ...not sure how; finger trouble. Second problem is that its and IBM Stinkpad - just shows how old it is.
If the problem hasn't already been resolved (can't read all the responses) i'll dig out the manual - but there should be an external switch somewhere  |

Then Hoovie came up with fn-f5 which was almost what you said.
If you want to take blu off your list just click on the ignore button at the top

I downloaded user manuals for the laptop from Retrevo last night. I'm not sure if they're as comprehensive as the real ones but they have info that I hadn't got before. I admit to not using function buttons because I haven't a clue what they do.
I've pressed the ignore button by mistake too, easily done.
