That's not so easy to do if you were born into a farming family and have known nothing else. Not every farmer is rich, they work long hours 365 days of the year, no knocking off at 4pm. |
Wish they would sometimes! I have tractors and their trailers driving past my house until 11pm at night sometimes

I dont care how much work they do, or if its in the family..........fact, this is a modern world, they need to get with it.
If i didnt make enough money doing what i do, i would do something else.
Knowing nothing else is just a stupid excuse to wallow in your own self pity

it annoys me when firemen and soldiers play the "we risk our lives for you" card. ok, they do occaisionally risk their lives, but no one forced them to do the job!
the reason they do the job is that they are too stupid to earn the wage they do at any other job. if you don't like "risking your life", then change jobs.
as for footballers, whilst i do think they are a bunch of overpaid ponces who should play a proper game like rugby, the fact is that the teams that pay them vast sums of money (usually) still make a profit - they make a profit because people pay to watch them. if there is that much money in the game, then why shouldn't it go to the players? |

Well I'm proud that I'm from hard working farmers that kept Cheshire and Staffordshire's townies fed, they got on with it with no whining or self pity. I don't think that changing into handymen would have had the same effect some how! Modern, farmers do diversify, there are lots of farm holiday spots around the country now and organic farmers too. I think the old traditions can live side by side with the modern world. It'll be a sad day whe everything is modern, too many traditions are dying.

Its the moaning self pity type farmers that get me...........most appear that way, and the others are the ones you are talking about

I worked for an electricity board in the early 1960's and met lots of farmers as part of my job.
They were always moaning about prices and profits.
Always had a new car every year too.
