| I was just wondering if any of you have used corona brushes. I have a collection of Purdy and wooster brushes which are getting near the end of their time, my supplier has told me he has a batch of corona brushes and says they are as good as if not better than purdy and wooster brushes. I'd be grateful if any of you could let me know if this is true or not. |

Cant say I have sorry..im going to try fat hogs soon though
The books a great read though...im 3/4 through it now..its still current today in many ways
I cant say I agree totally in the overall message being put across but the book does make you sit up and think...especially about how half the problem is with the the way people used to think they are not good enough...inverte snobs..my dad was one.
Unfortunatly it manifests itself as resentment of the ruling classes. _________________ '''No one likes us...we dont care!''' |

I have a good friend and respected colleague who has rates Corona over Purdy and Wooster any time. I didn't know they were available here, never really used them except when I was teaching a class in his school...they seemed OK but I can't judge by that small experience....I would trust this man's recommendation...go for it.
Great book..first read it 20 years ago
HBWT..Fat Hogs hold more paint than the average Purdy or Berty (Wooster) but they have a coarser bristle. They are fantastic for emulsion, not as good at the finer paints IMHO. Good brush for what it's designed for. _________________ www.decoratescotland.com |

I have tried wooster, Purdy and Hamilton perfection plenty over the years and I found the Purdy's hard to beat in all round performance.
As for the book I think different people get different meanings from it. I worked in a large painting firm for 11 years until 3 years ago when I decided to give it a go on my own.I can tell you a lot of the stuff that was in the book was still going on a much smaller scale but there was a lot of stuff I could relate to in it, but I know thats not just the painting trade this takes place but in all walks of life, but there always has been and probably always be class wars, all you can do is make the best of what you have.

Thanks for that. The guy I get my brushes from is getting a sample batch in from the US, so I'll take a few of them off him and give them a go I'll let you know how I get on with them. |

I am getting a couple of the Corona's at wholesale price so I'll give them a try and see what I think of them.
I bought a couple of purdy's from ebay US a while back and they werent too hot either I think they must have been seconds although they werent advertised as such, but I must admit I have bought quite a few since then and I've had no problem at all with them. |

I went to a Brewers trade evening some time ago. The guy from Purdy's said they make brushes specifically for the British market. I normally buy them in Home Depot on holiday in the US.
Mrs C does not approve of going to HD when on holiday Tough
