Opinions required please! I've built a partition to make a hallway in my otherwise open plan downstairs (didn't want to walk off the street into the living room) and am about to lay wooden flooring throughout.
Having removed all of my white painted skirting boards downstairs due to replastering I am now am out to replace them and am dictated by the white skirting up the stairs to having white skirting and architraves again in the hall anyway.
I would like oak skirting throughout but don't want to replace throughout the house or strip the paint on what's there already and have to go with the stairs to stop opening the can of worms. However in my newly created lounge I am thinking of going with natural oak (same size and style as the white but obviously different colour).
Will it look weird having white in the hallway and oak in the lounge? If not how would you do it? i.e. where does the white end and the wood start on the door casing?
Many thanks |

I dont think it would look weird..certainly not as bad as when people try and match two woods that are different colours and grains.
I might be tempted to just take the blueness out of the white with a drop of magnolia though. _________________ '''No one likes us...we dont care!''' |

Good idea, thanks for that. Where would you make the change from paint to wood on the inside of the door casing? Either side of the door trim? |

Picture it when the door is shut..that should give you a fair idea..it will probably look the best. _________________ '''No one likes us...we dont care!''' |
