Dear All,
Please confirm if you could help me with your advise the Downstair toilet pipe installation is this correct, as i have been told by one of the manufacturer it is not correct, as it need to be straight and no offset bends allowed. See below thier replies and pictures.
My reply,
I need to capped off the top soil pipe, do i need to use blanking plug or Air Admittance Valve. this is the Downstairs Toilet
I have already soil pipe on the which feed the upstairs toilet and it already has the vent.
The problem i have is the offset i need extra 3.0cm, but i do not how to overcome this.
Manufacturer reply,
As previously discussed as long as you are within 6m of any ventilated drain like a soil stack or vent pipe then you can use an access cap, other wise you must finish off with a vent cowl on top.
If you are within 6 metres of your ventilated drain section run then you can put an access cap on top.
If you are not then you must terminate it with a vent cowl, if it falls within 3 metres of any window or air vent you must terminate it 900mm above these openings. Mechanical vents can not be used externally due to parts freezing in the winter.
If the installation is going to be inspected by a building inspector, he will fail the installation and ask you to take offsets out and reposition drain.

Hi Scruff,
I am asking is the downstairs toilet pipe is not Building regs due to the offset, but i am not going through building regs, so it should be ok.
If i get the pipe straight then i would have to take the flags up and dig the half of the garden or i can move the toilet but this will be too close to the wall and wont be enough room to sit or put your feet apart.
Another problem i am trying to make a full socket, as i am 3.0cm sort, so i do not know if you can get a double socket both end 135degrees and then insert the pipe to give it airtight, as at the moment the water is dripping where i have higlighted in red.

I don't think you have left enough room for a double socket 45 deg bend.
Have you glued the socket on the branch, if not you could fit the top bent directly on the branch spigot and get a double socket bend and a short length of pipe

It is not glued , as i used push fit. Would it not looked on the pissed, sorry for the language.

One end of the socket on the end of the branch is not push fit.
If you got another 45% bend with a double socket, then put the two sockets together and a short length of pipe it will be upright, looking at the pic

I would always put the socket on the other way round.
Is the installation to Building Regs?
That depends whether or not there was a drop on the 38mm water guage when you did the air test?

There's a Polyplumb fitting with the socket stuck on like that BS, or I think it's polyplumb, we had several in the stores, ugly and bulky fitting.

| As it's a DIY website I'll go for it being from B&Q so I'll say it's a Marley fitting, could be Osma though, they are a blue grey/also

Yes they are from B & Q the fittings. The toilet flushes alrigtht not had any problem. but i wanted to rectify, as i have been advised by the Marely Plastics.
I never did the airtest, how do you do th air test ?

If you want it upright then you need to shuffle the fittings around, for example the two 135 sockets together will make a bigger offset than the way it is, 2 x 112 bend will be less than 2 x 135 bends and so on.

Air Test, firstly you will need to bund off the manhole inlet, that's the point where your soil pipe eneter the manhole, use an expanding plug to do this. Also bung off the top part of your stub stack
Then you will need a Monometer and a long rubber hose, push the rubber hose through your Pan Trap so it potrudes into your soil pipe. Blow down the tube to pressurise the soil system, then push the rubber hose onto your manometer to get a reading, provided the guage is at least 38mm and holds for 3 minutes, it has passed.
Or you could just flush the loo a few times to see if it leaks.

i will try and do the air test, but looking from the last sentence looks the easiest way, i have flused the toilet few times there is only leak near the offset, which i have not fully sealed due i needed a doulbe socket of
