Just got back from the snooker where the little darling had broken into the snooker club Bang Head

They somehow managed to break the chubb hasp and staple off, which is on an 5/8" boiler bar through the wall and welded to 6" steel plates either side.

They actually bent the hasp Shocked Shocked and I reckon they must have used mechanical means with the force they must have used.

Anyway haven't tried my hand at welding for ages Thumbright

The porch door is matchwood and they broke the style of the inner door in half Bang Head

About £400 quid in damages and what did they get.

Nothing Laughing

Welding it back up for them then are you?

16mm bar bends pretty easily. And never underestimate the power of a wedge Wink

I have been doing a lot of arc welding at work recently. I just need to suss out how to fabricate things without bending the metal Embarassed

The other day I made some stands from substancial channel section and I managed to get it to bend like a banana Embarassed

Must admit though, that I like welding. It is theraputic, a bit like repointing Laughing

I just welded up a steel door, will get a sheet of plate and weld it Monday/Tuesday Laughing if I can get them to deliver.

It virtually impossible not to bend the metal.

Tube and sections You can run a stitch weld down the inside which helps.

Ah, distortion control, the use of clamps, strongbacks and presetting are ways to minimalise such problems.

The gates i put in the showcase gallery, the top panel of that bent a lot further than i anticipated, had to put it in the press to straighten it back out Laughing
