If you use the two coat method you will have a lot more time to plaster the ceiling and so there should not be a joint
How large is it exactly? _________________ DIY | DIY Video |

get your first ceiling on and troweled up till the plaster is firm but not set,
go to where the joint is to be and using the edge of your trowel or the corner if you hold up a batten cut a straight line for the join,
clean off ( scrape off ) any plaster on the undone side leaving a straight clean edge, run your small wet brush along this to clean any chips
away, finish troweling first ceiling but only trowel along the length of the join never across it, use your wet brush to clean off any fat
that gets left over the edge of the joint.
Second ceiling first coat,
when you lay on against the join, fill to the join but finish by pulling the trowel along the join any lapped over plaster go back to when
you're got the rest of the ceiling on, clean this off by laying your trowel flat on the finish half and draw it to you like a big scraper
cutting the lapped plaster off ( don't dig in ) then wash it clean with your water brush,
second coat do the same as the first, the joint should be full and level, when cleaning with your brush try not to wash out to much
of the soft plaster from the joint, as you trowel up trowel only along the joint never to or away from it and keep any lapped over plaster
washed off.
if you trowel to or from the join you'll put a dip in it. |
