I should know this, but just can't suss it out Embarassed

I have a set of Silverline Core Drill Bits for an SDS Drill and I just cannot work out how the Auger is securely fitted to the Core Rolling Eyes

Is there a standard way this works or does it depend on the make? Need a photo of the kit in question?

I just googled for a pic of a silverline set, looks like the guide bit is fitted into the sds shank/arbour on a taper?
If thats the case, just push it in and give it a tap. Thumbright

Taper drills are widely used in engineering.

Yup - it is on a taper - I pushed it in but never gave it an extra knock - and then when I started the drill, it just spun off Rolling Eyes
I will give that a try tomorrow.

Cheers Hitch Thumbright

I dont think you see this fittment for masonary bits much nowadays, i think ts was called k-taper.

They can be a pain to get aprt once well hammered in there. Should be a drift in the set i expect, a wedge eshape that you hammer through to push the bit out.
