Yeah, he even blocked a air vent off for me in with the price. He also said he sub-contracts to the company i contacted but next time we need any plastering contact him direct because he is cheaper if go direct.

Just waiting for it top all dry out now and then will get the sandpaper onto it and mist it.

Shouldn't be any need to use glass paper on a newly skimmed wall.

Why did you block off the air vent and why? Some can be blocked off without consequence but most are there doing a job

Plasterers work to different standards of fussiness depending on what they think they can get away with. Quicker work leaves a few more defects, but is often better value for money due to the time taken.

With regards to the vent - We blocked this off as it was blocked off with cavity wall insulation anyway and was an eyesore in the bedroom.

With regards to the walls - i was following advice from the plastering section of this forum. People have said to sand the walls down lightly with grade 120 sandpaper so that the mist coat has something to key against.

Do i not need to do this now?

The only time anyone ever uses glass paper on a newly plastered wall is if it has been polished up by the plasterer or the finish is below par.

So if I just do a mist coat of 4 parts emulsion matt with 1 part water the Walls will be ok to paint and the paint won't crack or peel?

The price he has charged, I doubt it is going to be polished to the point it needs rubbing down. If he has got PVA splashes all over the wall then it may peel at those places, but a competent plasterer won't be using a brush with PVA on it to wet the wall down anyway.

You need to follow the instructions on the tine for water/paint ratio. Different makes vary. some are 10% some are 20% etc etc.
