Hi

Ive recently qualified as a plasterer, and am about to tackle some projects around the house to get some speed and confidence going. Ive got a large wall to plaster (about 5m in length) and dont think i can do it in one hit yet, any suggestions as to how i can tackle it?

Thanks

Andy

I'm a novice and self tought (apart from the advice on here) and I can just about do 5m, so get it done :thumbright:

As you've done a course it hard for me to offer advice, but I just make sure I'm organised - got all your tools ready and room cleared. I get the first coat on as quick as possible and not worry too much about the flatness then mix up the second coat and spend the time getting that right.

Give it a go, just relax and get on with it :thumbright:

I'm not trying to be cheeky, but how can you be qualified as a plasterer and not be able to do a 5m wall with confidence? Was it one of those 4 day courses you took?

timing is everything.

get your first coat on and dont play with to much trying to get the lines out as you wont and you will only end up frustrating yourself. :cussing:

let it pull in then flatten it out. clean your tools. edges n woodwork etc.

apply your second coat in much the same way as the first only thinner.

wet trowel, dry trowel etc after its pulled in.

i also use wickes bonding agent as i think it gives you more playing time but i know others on here do it differently.

good luck you will probably suprise yourself.

Wicks bonding agent is a handy one if you want a bit of extra time on the wall,

Bets advice is to ignore your first coat as much as you can bear, its too tempting to keep going at it, just get it on clean up and crack on with the rest.

5m is not a big wall, you will be suprised how quickly it comes together and if your slow it means you wont have time to fanny on at the first coat anyway.......good luck
