Hiya,

I've got a plasterer coming tomorrow who's skimming over a bathroom wall. It was covered in tiles but we knocked them off as we want to paint the wall now. When the plasterer came over to quote he told us to chip off the old loose grout and not to worry about the big flat sections.

So we've done that but i'm worried it won't be a smooth surface as there is lots of grout left on the wall. Or does anyone think this will be okay?

Thanks in advance!

If the old adhesive/grout is solidly stuck it shouldn't pose a problem for a decent plasterer.

A decent plasterer would use a backing plaster first, usually bonding coat , to level the wall out and then apply the finishing plaster
