I was wondering if someone can explain how to join or fill in the gap between plasterboard and plaster walls.

I am taking down the coving that hid the gaps between the ceiling and wall. I also built a box around some pipeing (I still have to put on the corner beading and then skim over the plasterboard).

Do I need to put scrim tape all the way around the room in the corner between the ceiling and the wall? What material should I use to fill in any gaps between the ceiling and the wall.

Thanks!

What size gaps are you talking? Will your first coat of skim not sort it out? If not then chuck a few bits of bonding up and let it firm off before skimming.

I must admit i don't peronsally skim the corner of ceiling to wall as it is tricky to get the stuff to stay in place when skimming the ceiling, i maybe should do this......

Pros will have better ideas i expect and no doubt i will get my knuckles rapped...

I'd use expanding foam as it's cheap and easy to apply. You can get it from Screwfix and other diy places.

I did a job a little while ago that had the same problem when the coving was taken down but this foam is excellent as it expands nicely and dries quickly and then it's easy to just use a stanley knife to trim off what you don't want and then leaves a nice key also. You can then just skim straight over the top, after applying pva.
