OK, so is this one giant kid or or what? My phone has had 2 damaged screens in the space of 6 months from relatively short drops. I have one of those 'armored' cases and a thick scratch/bullet resistant screen on top of the touchscreen, and even it doesn't work.

The scratch resistant screen scratches, and the armored case might just as well be made out of egg white. Sony Xperia Z3. Other than changing the phone, I wonder if there's anything out there that can adequately protect a smartphone from the daily stuff it will encounter.

:angryfire: :angryfire:

:dunno:

Pay full price for it (i.e. not on contract). THAT'LL make a difference!

I always thought the idea of a physical phone screen saver was that it does just that, and in so doing it gets scratched, and on as and when basis you change it. Well that is what I do.

I use a griffin survivor case and screen, they are expensive but awesome. No dust gets in and I've dropped mine loads of times and it's still mint.

I have less issue with the screen protector TBH, as it's doing it's job, but when it says it's will withstand a cut from a Stanley knife, and a key leaves a mark, I suspect there's a bit of creative license going on with the ad men.

I have the funny feeling that the vast majority of these protective cases are little more than protection from cosmetic damage, and offer little in the way of real shock proofing, but you pays your money I daresay.

I take a cheapo phone onto site (all of £30 worth) and leave the smart phone in the van TBH - if I need it I'll walk over and get it. I've seen loads of guys with smartphones who've smashed the screens - and loads of protection schemes, from that "old favourite" the sock to fancy protection cases. Yet to see anyone who manages to keep a screen for more than about 9 months and the young lads seem to go 3 or maybe 4 months max between replacement screens, whereas if I total a £30 phone, it doesn't matter too much (and my current one is now 2-1/2years old - but looks it). Tough game, construction......

The company I work for issue us with cheap nokias, as the amount that get damaged is unreal so if we break them it's not that much to replace.

My personal iPhone has a griffin survivor case on it and it does give it plenty of protection

I do the same as J&K. I leave my smartphone in the car and take a cheap Samsung with me. I think it cost me a tenner. You can re-direct your calls to your cheapo phone.

I was in CPW the other day and they will give you the same cheapo Samsung for free as long as you top up a tenner on it.

My phone is a Motorola G2, gorilla glass screen so a bit tougher but just about to be sent back for repair under warranty as it has decided that the sim card is not there so my mobile phone cannot do the basic function of actually making a bloody phone call, it also borked the sd card ::b

Same hear,me and my brother have had iPhones for about 5 years now and I think we're both on our 3rd one and none have had a smashed screen. Those griffin cases are superb.
