Never tackled this job before, so I am looking for advice.

I am using paving slabs as a path way from my brothers back door to his shed. There is a space between each slab and the garden has a slight rise from the back door to his shed.

Should I put the slabs on a sand and cement mix or slab base fix. These slabs will have decorative aggregate stones surrounding them.

Is there a possibility I could get away with just laying them on the soil scratch

Cheers
