The title says it all. Basically I've a room to re-plaster (Dot'n'dab) but I'm not going to have the time to plaster it before we have a party in the house (I don't work quick enuff - spend too much time thinking than doing Wink). Is it possible to paint the boards then some time later plaster over the painted boards.

I know plasterboard can be painted without the need to plaster but one of the walls is studded so I'll need to plaster that to hide the screws and I didn't want 3 plasteredboarded walls and one plastered wall as the painted results may not be consistant Confused

This could start another green side up row Ski Laughing

In my opinion it would be okay if you use simple emulsion, not the vinyl stuff. This way the surface will not be clogged and allow the plaster to grip. I would think that you would have to rough it up a bit before plastering though.

I would rely on the spreads to give the correct answer on this.

If you intend to tape the joints as a temporary measure then why not take just a wee bit more time and make a right job of taping and jointing then paint the whole thing, job done, screws and all, they are a doodle. seems a bit pointless to prepare then paint then prepare then paint again.

Why not get some flat bed sheets from a cheap shop, like Matalan or ASDA for about £10 each, and then drape the room, abit like an arabian tent. It'll save you having to rush job the room, and you don't have to worry about whether plaster will sick to the paint.

Plus you'll have plenty of summer bedding, dust sheets and text build matirials for the kids afterwards.
