We've recently had a new back door opening made and the previous one bricked up to window height, rendered and harled.
Is there anything in particular we need to do to it first or can we just paint it straight off with the Dulux Weathershield that we painted the house exterior with, last year? |

Apart from brushing any loose stones off, and making sure you cover up well, nothing stopping you. |

Are you talking about that fine spec dash..the pinky brown stuff?
If so watch your overlap with the roller and try and roll as colse to thing like around cills etc that you have cut in..its tricky to paint and can come out very ptchy due to it holding more paint in some places than others _________________ '''No one likes us...we dont care!''' |

Not sure...it's not pinky brown, it's like light grey cement with jabby stones mixed in and spread on the wall.
I'll bear in mind what you said when the time comes to paint it though. |

Is it a bad idea to paint this if it's very frosty?
New outdoor wall lights are going in on the very bits of wall that need painted and dont know whether to paint it first in cold weather or just take the lights down again to paint in better weather. |

If your paint is water based.......YES very bad idea!
If it is 'Pliolite' or oil based you might just get away with it, otherwise leave until there is no chance of frost, or an air temp of at least 5deg. |

Thanks Welsh Decorator. It's Dulux Weathershield we're using so water based.
I'll leave it till the weather is milder then...we've had hard ground frost for a couple of days now and it's -5 up here in the mornings.
(Secretly quite glad I have a legit reason to cross this off the list for now .)

Hoovie, if I had my way we'd have moved out for a month over xmas and ripped the flippin' list up!
We have no kitchen, no floor, no ceiling, no plasterboard on the walls and I still haven't even done the xmas shopping! We'll be giving each other IOU's and going to MacDonalds for dinner at this rate!
If all the tradesmen had turned up when they promised and did all they said they would, we would have been finished 3 weeks ago.
Bah Humbug! ....Sorry, slip of the tongue there....I meant Merry Christmas. |

Been easier to build the house from scratch !!
If I were you I would go out for Xmas dinner and forget about the house, tack some bright bedsheets on the walls to hide the unfinished walls and chill out for the evening with plenty of snacks and alcohol _________________ I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"

Lol....Scottish Highlands....and I've already put in a special request for a bottle of voddy.
We thought about going out for dinner but everywhere was booked up as we'd left it far too late.
We've been living off hotpot done in a plug in slow cooker but I think the family might be a bit ticked off if I presented them with a hotpot wrapped in tinsel for Xmas dinner.
Wood Magnet.....I'm saving that smilie.......got the feeling I might use it a lot over the next few days. |

Ali, I've had simmilar once when I was up that direction, close to Peterhead, no carpets, no cooker, had to the water well working, and we only had a toaster and kettle!
Apart from kipping on the floor, we were both down the pub every night for beer and food.........hot food that is |
