I need to paint a stained staircase, what process should I follow? I was thinking

Meths to de-grease
2 x BIN
Undercoat
2 x Top coat

Its a satinwood finish, am I best using water based or oil?

No need for the undercoat after the BIN, just follow on with your top coats. See my Link below :thumbright:

It is a personal preference, I think Dulux has improved since the paint yellowing debacle. I like the aqua gloss as in reality it is more like a satin. It works well with the rollers and it is much quicker than brushes.

Good luck, it is a mind numbingly boring job :thumbright:
