hi, im in 2 minds whether or not to change my boiler, i moved into the house feb 2011 and on the survey it was highlighted, its not broke and it heats the house great with in a few mins, in fact its a cracking boiler but it 10 years old, now ive had a quick look at this help link website were they install and maintain a Worcester Bosch boiler for £18 per month, i already pay £6 a month for boiler break down so it would only be costing me £12.

my question is how much more economical would this new boiler be compared to my old current one? just so i can weigh up if ill be saving or costing

cheers

craig

Which Worcester Boiler have you got? You will get many companies pushing you to change it for a condensing boiler, but in the scheme of things your boiler isn't that old.

If you look on the Energy Saving Trust website, statistical you will be saving between £ 150 - £300 per year on your gas bill. Weigh that up on the price of a replacement cost and the possible savings over the next 10 years and that will give you an idea. That is why I have asked for which Worcester Boiler model you have.

If you had a new Worcester boiler installed it comes with a 5yr warranty (which can be extended to 7yrs) at the moment, so why pay £18 per month?????

Worcester Bosch are now providing a 5 year warranty on some of their boilers. If not, you get a standard 2 years warranty. So in effect, you will not be paying £12 a month for the next 2 or 5 years if you fit a new WB boiler (so long as it is fitted as per MI). That is £1,050.00 savings over a 5 yearperiod. Put that towards the purchase of your new boiler.

the one i currently have isnt a WB its a saunier duval, the help link site has a deal of £474 deposit and £17 per month for 10 years, works out at around £2500 over then 10 years but they will maintain it for that 10 years, hope this helps

Who is making the offer and will they still be around in 10year.

If it includes an annual service and all parts as and when, that's not a bad deal.

Realistically a modern condensing boiler should save you 10-15%.

Get the feeling that's not as good as it reads, in fact there's so many holes and missing information, I think it could be an expensive mistake.

Proceed very carefully, I don't think it includes a service, and the repairs are on an insurance.
