Been painting some old beams this week. They had originally been painted then heavily stained.
Decided that it was a BIN job, 2 coats, went on fine held back the colour, solid. Chucked a JT Flat matt on top to match the white ceilings - no problems. Next day applied a 2nd flat matt and the stain came flooding through ::b Bizarre. The water was pulling it through???

Decided that id try an oil based option - Coverstain and Allcoat primer/finish.

Both blocked the bleed fine but decided to go with the Allcoat solvent as it was a white flat matt finish.

Had me twitching for a bit but finally overcome.

Nice stuff though and very low odour, will definitely use again.

Allcoat is brilliant stuff and it sticks to pretty much anything.
