I have an Oak Tree in my back garden and it is twice the size of my house in height and is very wide. We have been quoted £2,500 to have the Oak Tree removed as it is a crane job so you could imagine how much oak is there. I live in Birmingham. I know that Oak can be sold on at a very good profit. Does anyone want my Oak Tree? You have to get a tree surgeon to get it cut down for you. Any one interested please email me.

Thanks Trina O'Neill

On a serious note, with a tree that size, I think you need to consider potential heave problems when removed - both for you and your neighbours Shocked

Trees

The city council has powers to make Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) on single trees, groups or woodlands where it is thought necessary for the protection of amenity. The order is served on the owner or occupiers of the land on which the trees are growing and objections to the order may be made to the city council which has to consider them before deciding whether or not to confirm the order. Details of all TPOs which have been made to date are available from the Strategic Planning division. Consent has to be obtained from the city council to top, lop or cut down a protected tree and the city council can insist that replacement trees are planted if felling takes place. Conditions on planning permissions can also ensure that existing trees are kept and new ones are planted.

I agree with thescruff, my brother in law cut down some rotten trees on his land adjoining the roadway.

When the Exmoor National Park authorities found out, he was threatened wit legal action. He could prove they were dangerous as they were rotten inside and he was planting replacements. His concern was that they could fall on passing traffic and felt it was safer to cut them down, and he had consulted a proffessional tree surgeon.

Their comments "You should have waited until one fell down, then contacted us" they were'nt concerned it could have killed someone.

Local authorities don't we just love them. cussing cussing

one of my customers had a big tree to take down, same price as above 2.5K. He asked council to look at it and make sure there isn't an issue with removing it, there wasn't, but would not give them a letter to confirm what they said Bang Head

Anyway, they cut the main trunk into what looked like 1 ton bits and craned it into a tractor/trailer, drove off, turned the corner, but the trailer kept going straight on and demolished a nice VW Golf (1 year old) Shocked

The big bolt on the trailer hitch cracked
