When we couldn't find an Arts and Craft Style fire surround for our house renovation, I took it as a perfect excuse to make something that wasn't painted MDF for a change...

It's pretty much all veneered MDF, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Looks pretty good. Nice job. :thumbleft:

Maybe a little too much splay on the columns for my taste, but I can see that the width of the chimney breast may have been a constraining factor there.

The splay is a particular design style, and we weren't sure ourselves. I drew it out on the wall and the wife said no... but pictures we'd seen online looked nice , and without any other plan in mind I went ahead anyway. Glad I did. :wink:

It looks an excellent job. I wasn't sure about the splay either but it sort of grows on you. Certainly lifts it out of the ordinary. :thumbleft:
