Hello
I just noticed that someone has stolen my number plates so have reported to the police. I am not sure of the precise time that they were stolen as its a private car park for flat owners and I don't use my care everyday. I will of course need to get a new set made up and fitted just wondered what was the best course of action obviously a bit concerned about subsequent hassle re parking stolen petrol etc etc

Thanks

If you have a reference number from the police, then,in theory, you are protected from then on
for any tickets the plates may get.
I would also report to DVLA and request a new reg number, I believe they do this if the circumstances
warrant it.

Thanks Nigel will contact dvla tomorrow
One of my neighbours said they spotted a bloke with kids in a peugeot van like a transit/panel van park up and go round the front and back of my car earlier today and then take the plates which pins the time down and is third party evidence just in case

Halfords the nearest approved licence plate provider, are £35 for a replacement set plus security screws may need to shop around

I think you have to take the log book and your ID along these days to get new number plates:thumbright:

You can order plates on ebay. I got some new ones for £7 per plate delivered and the quality was very good.

Do you need to send them your V5 as proof?

Thanks Argyll/Someone-else

I am assuming a scan will do but will check in the morning I have found another couple of places nearby that claim to do number plates( accident repair specialists) all require at least a driving licence and confirmation of address and or log book).

This is the website I looked at I am assuming that if I scan docs that will do but they may have another method
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-Standard ... 1438.l2649

After a couple of beers from the 4T's brewery my priority right now is Liverpool/Man City highlights !!

Will report the outcome

they look fairly legit and have read from one end to the other looking for the exclusion but have the buisness printed on the plates and seem to comply

No you just tell them what reg you want, front or back, flag, lettering type etc.

I am not sure of the legalities but they are not exactly doing it round the back of a dodgy shop wink wink lol. You could also order custom number plates either for decoration or if you are doing car shows etc and you don't want to use your originals.

Have just got some made up at Solus who are near me for £21 so I have them now together with sticky pads screws and plastic nuts and bolts. They took all my documents and scanned them into their system V5C, and utility bills. The plates are ok but not brilliant
https://www.solusarc.co.uk/home/locations/

Haven't had a reply from the ebay site about how they view my docs but the delivery quoted was Thursday so I would have had to pay extra £2 and still wouldn't have got them till Wednesday and then had to wait for RM so more hassle

I reported to DVLA and they said report to Insurance provider so did that as well both have noted

Apparently its happening a lot more, near me as they have opened a new toll bridge with number plate recognition system ! Hopefully thats the only reason

Whilst ever I keep paying RFL then they can keep using the plate as it will be showing as taxed and insured. An Alternative would be to buy a private plate and fit that but that costs more

Might be and idea to turn the tracker in Google maps on on your phone. It holds a timeline of your journeys and that might be really useful defending against speed fines etc if necessary.
