|
|
|
Hi everyone,
In the next week or so, I will be installing my very first bathroom suite as well as many other diy tasks associated with it. This list of jobs includes:
1) Re-route bath and install, Fit new basin and toilet in exisiting position.
2) Remove radiator, re-route pipes and fit heated towel rail with pipes buried into wall
3) Re-route wall shower and earth cable, again burying pipes and then installing 3 sided stand alone shower cubicle
4) Fit new skirtingboards were required
5) Tiles walls and tile floors
Need advice as to the order these jobs should be underaken and any other advice that you can give a complete novice.
Incidentally, I have never channelled walls to bury pipes! Is this a job that I can do and how easy will it be to plaster over?
Thanks all
regards,
Mark. |

Hi Mark,
The first advice is that the demolition stage may reveal problems that you haev not yet thought of. Take your time to check for rotten areas of wood that may have been subject to leaks over the years. Check under the toilet and add some supporting noggins to take the screws from the WC fittings.
Think about flooring early on. You may wish to replace the floor boards with a ply and/or aquapanel to give a good substrate for your floor tiles. Tile the floor and walls before the final fitting of the basin and WC.
Tiling is about carefull plotting of the datam line and working out where the cuts will be taking account of windows etc.
There is a load to think about but these are a few points to get started.
Good luck with your project

| ive started to dry fit the bath and remove it till ive tiled as much of the walls as i can. alot easier to tile, gives you more space to work and less chance of damaging the bath. |
