Fence/shed paint.

There's tons of it in the outlets but the 'cheap' stuff is said to be used on 'rough cut' wood and NOT smooth planed - why?

The cost difference between paint/stain for 'rough' wood and 'smooth planed' wood is some 4x or 5x more expensive :wtf:

e.g. a 10 or 15 litre bucket of fence stain is £15 (or summat) but stuff for smooth planed wood is £37 for 5 litres.

:dunno:

At a guess, it's down to the solvents, or their action between the paint and the timber: (or something like that).

Stuff intended for sawn timber tends to run off of planed timber instead of soaking in when you try and brush it on.

Sadolin Classic is good on prepared timber, and lasts well outside.

Whatever you use don't use this,

it is like water, that is why it is cheap.

I've spotted this at the local shed

No specific warnings about using it on smooth planed wood (sheds) so I'll give it a go.
