Of course not BAS, but on the other hand this is a DIY forum, and advising a poster how to safely wire a 13amp plug without quoting 50 books and as many regs would be a better approach.

The wiring of the plug isn't the issue - it's the concealing of the cable behind panelling that is.

And pointing him at existing documents on the web which explain the rules for concealing cables was the most effective and efficient way to get him the information he needed.

The list of books was because he clearly knows absolutely nothing about electrics, not even the most basic things, and really must put some effort into learning before trying to do any more jobs.

Yes but the safe zones are on one page.

I for one can't imagine any poster going out and spending a couple of hundred quid on a load of books.

Posters ask questions because they want to do it safely, they don't need a lecture every time.

Which one page has every single aspect of concealing cables (not only a zone diagram) on it?

I for one cannot imagine the attitude of "oh that'll do" ever being remotely acceptable.

As far as I am concerned there is no excuse for not doing the best job you can. Not doing it properly is completely unacceptable, and I will never stop telling people that they need to learn, and that if they cannot be arsed to do that then they should never do anything with electrics except flick switches to make lights etc go on and off.
