Post subject: Engine wouldn't turn after short drive. Overheat? Seized?
PostPosted: Wed Oct 04, 2017 9:08 am
So I took my 1988 Alfa 75 3.0 V6 for a 5 minute drive up and down a lane. A very easy drive, no high revs. I’ve finally got the car running on 6 cylinders after an air leak through a fuel injector caused a misfire.

The car was running fine (finally) but when I stopped driving and left it idling for a few minutes, it was running rough and wouldn’t rev with a fair ...

Hi,

Vehichle : Nissan Primera P12 2002 2.2 Tdi Estate.

My Engine Light is on and the vehicle is in Limp mode took to a garage and they said that the throttle position sensor needs changing. However, the cost for the part is more than the vehicle is worth. I was just wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this, maybe like cleaning the sensor etc.

Limp mode has come up before but usually ...

Post subject: Ford fiesta engine part?
PostPosted: Mon Oct 02, 2017 3:49 pm
Doing I little maintenance on my car and noticed this part of what I assume is part of the cooling system had slipped away from the engine. I temporarily reattached with tape but I want to get a replacement part. What exactly is this part? What am I looking for? Is there a particular size and type?

Post subject: 206 HDi engine stalls/dies momentarily on the move
PostPosted: Tue Sep 26, 2017 1:14 pm
Long story short, I am posting the video of my problem here:

(It is a 2005 Peugeot 206 1.4 HDi on 214k kms)
The car has been doing this for over a year now. Sometimes it is all fine for months, sometime the problem gets more severe. Few weeks ago, for the first time, the engine stopped on the move and did not start again for few minutes.
The only OBD code I read ...

Post subject: The continuing saga of the damned Volvo
PostPosted: Tue Sep 19, 2017 9:44 pm
The present steed is an 04 S60 2.4D5 Auto
I've had a few things replaced already mainly for my own piece of mind (timing belt & water pump), I could have done without changing the starter motor but it was my own fault for not getting something to grip the solenoid when I undid the nut on the main wire.
Anyhow, got back to car last night after work & spotted a pool of oil ...

Post subject: Insurance again private car/commercial
PostPosted: Tue Sep 12, 2017 9:16 am
4 years ago I had a van. One day I left it outside a job to find it had rolled into a wall. Total write off.

Since then I've worked out of an estate car. Private policy which includes business use.

My personal no claims haven't been affected, but every year when I search for new quotes I include the loss of the van in the "accidents or claims in last 5 years" section.

Question ...

Mines due at the beginning of next month and I'm getting a few prices.

Is anyone else finding that their insurance has gone up this year?

My car is the same, no points etc but mines up by almost £100 with several insurers.
