 Post subject: Router bits recommendation
PostPosted: Thu Jul 05, 2012 11:15 am
Hello!

I've recently bought myself a 1/2" router and want to use it to do my skirting boards (MDF) and possibly also my architrave. I'm looking for recommendations on brands or specific router bits to buy. A set of them would be nice but is it better to buy good quality bits specifically for what I want? I'd rather not buy rubbish that will ruin the material I'm trying to route.

Any information on good ...

Post subject: super duper long auger bits
PostPosted: Wed Jul 04, 2012 9:25 pm
just started a loft conversion this week. as part of the job we need to strengthen up the binders (its on a victorian terraced house) by adding 5x 8x3 timbers onto the binders 3 on one side and 2 on the other. we also need to bolt them all together. so roughly i think im gonna need something like a 24 inch auger bit. probably at 12mm diameter.

i saw this set on the bay ...

Hello everyone and thank you for letting me join,

My name is Hugh I am just getting to grips with DIY and must say I am much better with computers & imaging peripherals than power tools but I am willing to learn what I can.
I bought an old Bosch jigsaw and had to replace the bit (saw) I managed how to take it out and replace it but I am sure that it is ...

 Post subject: Tradepoint Pipe Strangler
PostPosted: Mon Jul 02, 2012 5:39 pm
I picked up one of these pipe benders at our local Tradepoint for £15 + vat;

http://www.screwfix.com/p/forge-steel-pipe-bender/91727

It's a Hilmor clone, but looks like it'll do a bit of bending.

Keep an eye out at their trade counter, it's not the first time I've spotted a bargain there, last week they had 110V Makita Drywall Drills for £30. No use to me - but a right bargain ...

Post subject: Axminster MB9020 Benchtop Planer Thicknesser
PostPosted: Mon Jul 02, 2012 9:01 am
I had been on the lookout for a planer thicknesser for a while, and had been toying with a big dewalt 27300 item, but in the end I figured the big dewalt would be way to big for my workshop, and was way to expensive for what I needed (rather than wanted)

I went back to basic's and read reviews of all manner of cheaper machines and stumbled on the clarke / draper / axminster ...

 Post subject: Case for Sander
PostPosted: Sun Jul 01, 2012 1:45 pm
Hello!

I've just purchased a Makita BO5031 Random Orbit Sander and didn't realise it didn't come with a case. Is there somewhere I can get a case for it, perhaps with room to put any extra sanding discs?

Bo!

Post subject: ¼" -> ⅜" quick change bit adapters?
PostPosted: Fri Jun 29, 2012 1:24 pm
I just got a small pack of Irwin Blue Groove Power drill bits (good deal as well 14mm, 16mm & 18mm for £13.69)

The 18mm and all larger sizes of these Blue Groove Power actually have a ⅜" quick change shank. Is there a ¼" -> ⅜" adapter or ⅜" quick change chuck available that accepts this type of shank? I can't see anything in the Trend Snappy range.

This isn't a huge problem as ...
