Post subject: Mitre Saws: DWS780, LS1216L or GCM12 SD
PostPosted: Sat Jan 05, 2013 2:55 pm
As title, we are looking at getting a decent mitre saw and my options at the minute are the Dewalt DWS780, the Makita LS1216L or the Bosch GCM12 SD. I would love a kapex but the price is a bit :puke: . We will be using it for everything from fencing, decking, framing etc to 2nd fix skirts, architraves etc.

I'm leaning towards the dewalt but i ...

I just don't have enough room to store all my power tools in my boot, so wanted to put them in my bedroom in one of these, is it a good idea?

My boyfriend wants a drill for his Birthday!

We only really need it for drilling holes in furniture, general everyday use....into walls, wood, maybe breezeblock etc - nothing majorly difficult!

But I have no idea what to buy or what to look for? I have a few of the usual electrial DIY stores near me & am short of time, so unless I can get delivery for online things within about 2-3 working days it ...

 Post subject: Which multi tool
PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2012 10:33 pm
I am pretty stuck on which multi tool to buy. I would have thought the battery ones are a bit slow and frustrating?

There's an AEG 12v at £90
or a corded Works at £80
or a corded Makita at £120 (no blades)

I would prefer the convenience of the AEG - I have a couple of batteries already. Just a bit worried about slow cutting speeds.

Have to leave at 8.30 weds morning to ...

So back here aeg-bsb18g-and-bs18g-t38905.html

I did a quick review of these 2 drills. Happy to say despite extensive and frequent heavy DIY usage both are still going strong. Combi will even put 6x80mm Goldscrew plus screws into wood without a pilot hole with no problem (hammer mode and a wera PZ bit helps a lot)

Only minor niggle was the chuck on the Combi not wanting to ...

Post subject: Axminster MB9020 Benchtop Planer Thicknesser
PostPosted: Mon Jul 02, 2012 9:01 am
I had been on the lookout for a planer thicknesser for a while, and had been toying with a big dewalt 27300 item, but in the end I figured the big dewalt would be way to big for my workshop, and was way to expensive for what I needed (rather than wanted)

I went back to basic's and read reviews of all manner of cheaper machines and stumbled on the clarke / draper / axminster ...

Bought one of these for a bookshelf project

I've so far just made a large picture frame out of oak, and have to say I'm mighty impressed.

Yes I know you can do all this with a Router, but this tool makes it so much faster and super accurate, and I think much safer. but I'll probably get 101 comments disputing this.

Setting the position ...
