Hi.
I'm having as bit of bother fixing my new bathroom sink to the wall. The sink sits against tiles which are fixed to plasterboard. Behind this there is about a 50mm gap to the wall. I've never seen a wall like this before, its made up of loads of stones  It's a real pain to drill a clean hole into. Anyone seen these before? ...

I have an old house with galvanized pipe. I know that the life span of galvanized pipe is about 40 years but I am hoping there is another solution than replacing the pipe. The water pressure is fine in the house except for the hot water side in an upstairs bathroom. I get no rusty water from any of the faucets and only the one line is low. I replaced the valve stem on the ...

Hi,
Was after some advice please. I apologise if I'm in the wrong place to be asking this.
Basically, I want to become a Plumber - I'm starting the City and Guilds 6129 course in Sept which I'm self funding and going to be studying in the evenings in total the course will run for 2 years.
Has anyone got any advice on things I can be doing to help my development in this area? ...

Post subject: Clogged beyond the toilet? Posted: Mon Jun 11, 2007 4:53 pm |

OUr toilet gets backed up frequently, and plunging doesn't help. When I do, I hear air going through the toilet, and clear wather eventually comes up, which makes me think that the problem is in the pipes in the wall. Do I need to install wider pipes?

Post subject: Toilet seats Posted: Mon Jun 11, 2007 10:48 am |

Hi, I'm new on this forum, so apologies if this question has been asked before. Are there any 'universal' toilet seats which will fit on any toilet, regardless of age? Ours must be at least 20 years old, and the toilet seat is on its last legs! The only name I can find on the toilet seat is Laconite.
Any help much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Hi what a great site! I have just found it whilst researching on google. Apparently I need a "kitchen sink waste". I am a novice to plumbing but I'm sure I can replace this part without shelling out big money. Water was leaking onto my kitchen carpet - discovered it was coming out below sink - the pipe below sink had come away - I bought some cheap silicone sealant - wedged pipe back up ...

Post subject: Alternative way to connect a washing machine?? Posted: Fri Jun 08, 2007 9:45 am |
|

Hi!
I've no plumbing for a washing machine ::b (very old listed building) and having only just moved in, I need an emergency solution.
I seem to recall that in the "old days" you could connect a washing machine to sink taps, and have the waste pipe hooked over the side!
Can this still be done?? (I have a butlers sink in the utility room)
Thanks! ...
