Post subject: Running pipe under floorboards

Here's a question for you:

I'm about to put a brand new heating system in as the old one is knackered. Because of cost I was going to go with plastic (prepare the rotten fruit now), using the old notches as I don't particularly want to keep weakening the joists.

 Post subject: Cold Radiators
PostPosted: Tue May 08, 2012 8:36 pm
I'm planning to drain down my dad's central heating system soon, and thought i'd take the opportunity to do a flush with mains water like in TomPlum's video before refilling.

He's has a problem with radiators being cold at the bottom, and British Gas (surprise surprise) recommended a power flush.

I removed one radiator and hosed it out, there wasn't really any sludge in it, but did notice some black particles, kind of like grit. ...

PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2012 10:32 pm
Hi,

I have several radiators to hang, that were previously hung with pozi 5.0x 40mm screws, are these adequate to hang radiators on walls that are plaster and brick only?

Mandy :dunno:

Post subject: Re-laying drains - rough cost
PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2012 1:07 pm
Hi All,

Just had our survey report back from a house we've offered on, one of the things they picked up on was the drainage, and it mentions possible re-laying of the drains, just wondering what sort of price we'd be talking about? Here's the bit about the drainage

Quote:
A single drainage inspection cover was noted to the front of the garage, and the cover was lifted. The drainage was ponding within the chamber, ...

PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2012 9:02 am
Morning all,

I was helping out someone yesterday, they needed to rearrange a bit of pipework which had been done in 15mm plastic pipe. The only stuff i've used is the JG Speedfit, this stuff was using a different kind of plastic fitting.

I used a couple of my JG Speedfit fittings on it, and it seemed to work ok, but just wanted to confirm that it is OK to mix the brands.

I didn't ...
