Post subject: Bare patch where cupboards used to be
PostPosted: Thu May 03, 2012 9:35 pm
Hi all, I recently removed a couple of kitchen cupboards from the wall in the house I've just moved into.
Whoever papered the wall went around the cupboards, so now I'm left with a massive cut-out bare patch of the old plaster where they were.
What is the best way to smooth this out and to bring it back up to the level of the surrounding paper?? (bearing in mind that there is another layer ...

 Post subject: Drylining ceilings
PostPosted: Sun Apr 29, 2012 12:43 pm
I was wondering if anyone had tried out the Stanley adjustable support arms or perhaps the cheapo alternatives from either Screwfix or ToolStation for dry lining ceilings? Are these things any good? Is the Stanley really worth that much more? Or would I be better off looking at something like a drywall panel lifter? Looks like I've got about 2500 to 3000sq ft to board out soon (double 12.5mm pinks) and I am getting a ...

PostPosted: Wed Apr 25, 2012 11:01 am
Hello,

I am in the middle of a kitchen refit and was doing some measuring up last night having ripped the tiles off. I have noticed the walls are out of square approx 1" in 1.5m along a 3 metre run. I have a plasterer coming in to bond and skim in a cople of weeks and would like to know if its reasonable to ask him to straighten the deviation. Alternatively do I need ...

 Post subject: Removing ceiling
PostPosted: Mon Apr 23, 2012 7:44 pm
Hi all

Would be grateful for some advice. I am buying a period property, in the front room there is a bay window and across the bay in the ceiling is a large crack. The surveyor has said the ceilings are the original lathe and plaster with limited life and recommended getting them changed.

The ceiling in question also has lovely cornicing that I am keen to keep. My question then is how do I ...

Post subject: 52mm round external corners?
PostPosted: Thu Apr 12, 2012 5:14 pm
I have a drawing which shows 52mm outside round corners as part of a refit. The spread says you can do this by building up material, alternatively there is a round corner trowel with a smaller 12mm radius.

Anyone know of a preformed corner- either a bead for skimming or dry lining that would do this? Thanks in advance.
