 Post subject: 20x40 Aluminium Profile
PostPosted: Wed May 15, 2019 10:54 am
I'm after 2 meters of standard 20x40 aluminium profile with a 6mm slot.

I can get this online but the postage is nearly more than double the price of the item.

Does anyone know of a place which sells this in the Manchester area?

Thanks

Post subject: How to make a warm floor
PostPosted: Wed May 15, 2019 8:11 am
Hello. I plan to warm the bathroom floor with running hot water in my house. What pipes would you recommend? I plan to fill them with concrete on top and then cover them with tiles. I don't want them inside to start leaking.

Post subject: HELP! Changing recessed spotlights - completely befuddled!
PostPosted: Tue May 14, 2019 9:44 pm
Apologies for bumping an old thread if it's against the rules. I have the same light fittings and wanted to ask for some more details on changing the fitting. There are metal prongs in the black connector as shown in the attached image. How do I go about finding a new fitting that connects in the same way? I want to replace the light with brighter ones - is there a limit to the wattage ...

Post subject: Grout hardened before I could wipe it down
PostPosted: Tue May 14, 2019 9:39 pm
Really need some advise please, I've just grouted the last three walls of my bathroom the first one went smoothly enough, I did that yesterday.

The problem is the grout dried that quicky that I couldn't keep up and now I'm left with a wall and half that is covered in hard grout and the lines have way too much grout in them.

I've spent the last 2 hours trying my hardest to remove it ...

Post subject: What did the forum think was the best white emulsion?
PostPosted: Tue May 14, 2019 6:14 pm
I know this has been discussed loads of times but I could not remember the name that came out on top here as the best emulsion. I was talking to someone who asked me what I thought was best but I could not remember. Was it something like Mythos or is that a Greek beer??

Thanks

DWD

Post subject: Replacing garage fluorescent lights
PostPosted: Tue May 14, 2019 3:20 pm
I'm planning to replace two 5ft single fluorescent battens in a (very dark) garage with eight 60W LED battens.

These are on a 6A circuit shared with the upstairs lighting in the attached house (7 luminaires, <200W total).

The garage has a plasterboard ceiling and currently the two battens are each connected to their own ceiling rose. I'm planning to remove the existing battens, replace each ceiling rose with a junction box, and connect four ...

Post subject: Best SDS lightweight drill please?
PostPosted: Tue May 14, 2019 12:44 pm
I'm removing some old rendering from the gable end of my 1920s house.

I'd like to buy an SDS drill - with hammer and rotation stop (??) and a suitable chisel fixture.

Corded would be fine - but since i have a damaged wrist something lightweight would be good.
Lidl, Aldi, Screwfix etc are nearby.
Suggestions most welcome please.
Thanks

Post subject: How 2 Replace Pressure Release Valve on Ecotec Pro 28 Boiler
PostPosted: Tue May 14, 2019 6:09 am
Hi All,

I'm new to this community and I'm kindly after your assistance. I would like some step instructions on how to replace The Pressure Release Valve on Ecotec Pro 28 Boiler. Do I first drain the system etc and how I go about it.

Water is leaking rapidly via the overlflow and I have checked and expansion vessel which is fine. I've also depressurised it.

Thanks in advance.

Malyka
