Post subject: Oiling a worktop with danish oil - too dark!
PostPosted: Tue May 21, 2019 4:40 pm
Hi, I've just oiled a new Iroko worktop with Danish oil - (Littlefair's Danish oil which in retrospect is quite tinted). I was a bit gunho and didn't test a bit on the underside and just on the first coat its very dark and not the colour I wanted at all. It was such a perfect colour before matching everything else in the room. Is there any going back?

Post subject: Problem with water around sink
PostPosted: Tue May 21, 2019 10:21 am
I have a problem with water always collecting around the kitchen sink. The worktop is some dark hardwood, the edge of the sink is about 2 - 3 mm above the surface of the worktop, and I have varnished the enire worktop with a two-component polyurethane varnish that I got from a nearby marina, and it seems to be extremely durable; still looks good after 12 years. However, I am worried about the water eventually ...

 Post subject: Rear Caliper Locking
PostPosted: Mon May 20, 2019 10:31 pm
Hello,

I have an issue where the rear passenger brake will start to engage and bind when driving after pressing the brakes a few times.

So this evening I pulled the fuse from the ABS as I was confident that the calipers were fine and I replaced the line on saturday.

Voila, the issue is gone and the rear passenger no longer locks.

I stopped the car and replaced the ABS fuse and slowly the ...

Post subject: What type of render or should I use cladding?
PostPosted: Mon May 20, 2019 8:41 pm
Hi,

My first post.

I have these walls to the rear of my house. It's a Victorian red brick wall which looks like it's been lime washed decades ago and then painted over many times more recently. I'm going to remove this using the services of a sand-blaster. The paint is peeling in some parts and allowing some moisture to go through the walls although it's quite limited. I was thinking of rendering it using ...

Post subject: Phone wiring in house, who's responsible? Who can do work?
PostPosted: Mon May 20, 2019 7:07 pm
Hi all

Recently moved house... The phone line in the property does work, but is rather unsightly. It comes into the house at an upstairs window on the landing:

Then it comes into this junction box on the windowsill:

From there, it travels through this conduit down to the living room windowsill below, which is ...

PostPosted: Mon May 20, 2019 7:06 pm
Need help to choose a correct shower pump and where to install it to increase pressure in shower unit.
I have an open vent system as per the attached diagram. It is a gravity feed hot and cold system. Just renovated my en-suite and replaced a Mira 88 shower control valve with Bristan Artisan thermostatic valve. I have fitted in an attic an inline micropump on the hotline to the shower head, but the flow ...

 Post subject: Weed killer query
PostPosted: Mon May 20, 2019 6:18 pm
I had some Resolva weed and patio weedkiller left over.I am nervous of weedkillers so decided to use it up by diluting it in water and using my watering can to pour it down the flags. This was a few days ago.It was quite a weak mixture. Today I filled my watering can ( totally forgetting that I'd had the diluted weedkiller in it ) and then watered my lettuce and potato plants. I am ...

PostPosted: Mon May 20, 2019 3:59 pm
Other than purchase a new one, does anybody have any helpful input on how to remove a blade securing screw on a Ryobi one planer?

The bolt is in a recess so hard to get and its starting to round just to make things worse.
