 Post subject: Ford Scrappage scheme
PostPosted: Tue Aug 22, 2017 4:44 pm
Not sure if anyone is in the market for a new van but Ford have announced this new deal today. They are dressing it up as scrappage but essentially it is just a discount scheme which benefits the person who is trading in a cheapo knackered van. ... age-scheme

Anyway thought I would post it up in case it helps someone. ...

 Post subject: Engine start/stop systems.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 15, 2017 9:12 am

We bought our new diesel 2.0L SEL Yeti last July wondering if we had done the right thing considering our low annual mileage of less the 9,000 miles? Would the exhaust choke up resulting in expensive repairs due to short journeys etc; anyway we took the gamble and the Yeti so far is absolutely brilliant. ...

 Post subject: Rufforth bargains.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 01, 2017 12:22 pm

I've said many times I enjoy once monthly trips to Rufforth Auto Jumble near York. For anyone living near enough to reach Rufforth and who is interested in workshop items I'm happy to post details of a few items I bought. Today is Rufforth day again and I was on site at bang on 7 am. If my chum David can attend we wander around until about 11 am before leaving but I was ...

 Post subject: Hot Water
PostPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2017 1:47 pm

During the summer months when not using gas to heat the house, does it make sense to use the
Electric immersion heater to heat water :dunno:

I have an economy 7 meter, so can heat the tank and night time and probably will last the whole day.

Gas KWh is 3.242p
Economy 7 Elec KWh 9.09p

I am assuming that immersion heater is more efficient?

Any ...

Post subject: Fix Problems with Continental UH3 UFH Wiring Centre
PostPosted: Wed Dec 14, 2016 9:49 pm
We have a Continental UH3 under floor heating wiring centre (which may be the same as the Heatmiser UH3, although I'm not 100% sure about that). It's got a 'sticky relay', which means that sometimes the heating doesn't work (although some 'percussive maintenance' clicks it into gear again). I checked with the supplier, and it's out of warranty (after just a year), and they want £120 to send me a new one. A bit of ...
