 Post subject: Makita DDF083 sub-compact drill-driver
PostPosted: Tue Jul 31, 2018 7:31 pm
My combi drill is OTT for driving smaller or even medium screws, and frankly not that good at it. I'd fallen into using the impact driver even for small stuff, but it can be needlessly noisy even on the lowest speed, plus I miss the slip-clutch for repetitive screw-driving. So I decided to get a smaller drill/driver, specifically for light screw-driving and/or (timber) screw-hole drilling.

I chose Makita's DDF083, which has a hex chuck; it ...

Post subject: What is your take on the quality of Makita (batteries)?
PostPosted: Mon Jan 08, 2018 11:40 am
About 12 years ago I got given a Makita 14.4V drill in a box with a load of bits & pieces (this one This served me fine, but after about 8 years neither of the batteries would hold any charge anymore. Apart from the screwdriver bits that seem to wear quickly, especially the torx ones - I never had any other issues.

I just remembered that the rubber from the grips was also ...

Here is a quicky review of the Makita DBO180 18 volt cordless 125mm brushless random orbit sander.

Makita DBO180 125mm brushless sander 001_01.jpg

Above: That's what mine looked like for, oh, about an hour after I bought it. (See below for a "real world" photo or two)

OK, so a bit of a mouthful, but the tool itself is relatively compact, If you've ever used Makita's little 1/4 sheet orbital sander ...

Post subject: Makita cordless plunge saw
PostPosted: Wed Sep 13, 2017 10:06 pm
Makita have come up with an answer to the Festool TSC55R - which is you are a Makita cordless user like I am is very interesting -

The motor is variable speed and brushless, but two batteries are required (it won't run on one alone)

PostPosted: Tue Jul 04, 2017 1:40 pm
I've just purchased Makita Cordless Drill DF331DWYE 12V 10mm -- but upon the first try i've already got a problem with the keyless chuck lock...It seems it is not gripping on the drill bit properly especially when the drilling require high amount of pressure to apply for example drilling steel..

Post subject: Makita 18v Li-Ion combi drills and drill drivers (10/2016)
PostPosted: Sun Nov 06, 2016 11:00 am
I'm sure that I'm not alone in being confused by Makita's model numbers, so this is an attempt to help anyone interested in buying a Makita 18 volt combi drill or drill/driver. This only covers the Li-Ion range currently on the market and available (6 Nov 2016), not the now defunct NiCd and NiMH products. Earlier models which are no longer available such as the DHP451, DHP452, etc are also omitted. The categories are all ...

PostPosted: Sun Feb 21, 2016 7:11 pm
Searched for any threads regarding this piece of kit and couldn't find any so....

Have had the Makita HR2470WX 3kg SDS Plus Hammer Drill 110V. Brilliant piece of kit, shame about the need for transformers and cables, makes you ache carrying it all.

Have had the Makita DHR202Z 3.2kg SDS Plus Drill 18V cordless. As good as the above but without the need for cables. Yes if used constantly will eat through your battery’s but ...
