 Post subject: Pre Mixed Cerment
PostPosted: Tue May 15, 2012 3:20 pm
I'm wanting to seperate a small border along my patio from a large border around the garden, when we had the garden done we had pavies put to create a border around the border to make cutting the grass easier.

At the time I was planning on putting a few climbing plants in the small border by the edge of the patio, but now have decided against it. So what I want to do is ...

Post subject: Garden/Boundary Walls - Mortar entire brickface
PostPosted: Tue May 15, 2012 2:25 am
My Garden and Boundary walls have become dated.

The mortar between the brickwork requires re pointing but i have noticed alot of the brick faces crumbling off under slight pressure. I dont want to re-brick the walls, what are my options?

Speaking to a guy at work he mentioned that i would require to tac a wire mesh to the wall face and then apply a layer o mortar. I could then paint over. What ...

PostPosted: Sun May 13, 2012 10:37 pm
I have just framed in some reed screening to the rear of my garage to take the look off it as it was rough as hell,

This is the first time I have used this sorta thing but after seeing my neighbours bamboo screening that has went a bit mental and grey looking, to the point where I would rip it down and replace it, I would like to try and prevent this.

I ...

 Post subject: Bee's/Wasp's Trying To
PostPosted: Sat May 12, 2012 8:02 pm
I've posted this here as it's about bee's or wasps not sure which they are, but it may be better suited to the building or general Diy section. The problem I'm having is that the bee's/wasp's are trying to get in the little vent things that thay put every so offten in the brickwork of the house and I'm also worried that they will also try and get into the boiler flu and all the ...

Post subject: Best way to clean/check/service petrol mower without turning
PostPosted: Fri May 11, 2012 11:54 am
Hi gardeners!

I have a petrol mower with is sounding a bit grunty and rattly this year. So I want to take a look at the underneath and give it a clean up and once over.

However, in my experience with this and other petrol mowers, if you turn them on their side or upside down, it tends to cause problems either with leaking petrol or oil, or loads of smoke for a while when ...

Post subject: Please recommend me some decent shears....
PostPosted: Thu May 10, 2012 3:12 pm
Hi all

I don't have a large garden so I don't need anything too heavy duty. The main use for the shears will actually be cutting grass around edges and borders. So they have to be good for that. I much prefer to do it with shears than strimmers.

I'll also be using the shears for the occasional bit of hedge trimming.

Many thanks

Max

 Post subject: My First Garden..
PostPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 12:08 pm
I recently moved into my first house and with it my first garden. I have a reasonable patch of grass to the front and a slightly larger area of grass to the rear with a decent sized patio.

The lawns are overgrown and in desparate need of cutting back. The lawn doesnt appear patchy and I'm quite sure a lawnmower will cover it nicely but there are a few dandellions and other bits and pieces ...
